Hazelnut Brownies with Date Caramel
Prep time: 20 mins. Feeds: 8 people. Equipment needed: Food Processor.
This tastes like a Nutella brownie. I don’t think I need to say more.
.
STEP 1) Brownie
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of raw activated hazelnuts
- 2 tbsp raw coconut flour
- 1 tbsp raw cacao powder
- 1 tbsp raw carob powder
- 1 cup of soft dates
- 1/2 tsp of pure vanilla powder or 1 tsp of cinnamon
Method:
In a food processor, grind the hazelnuts fist into flour, then add the rest except the dates, pulse to mix it all then add the date and continue blending until you get a sticky dough consistency. Spread the dough into a square or rectangular tray and flatten evenly.
.
STEP 2) Date Caramel
Blend 1 cup of soft date until creamy, that’s all. Spread the caramel evenly on the brownie mix.
.
STEP 3) Chocolate Layer (optional)
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp raw melted coconut oil
- 1 tbsp cacao powder
- 1 tbsp carob powder
Method:
Mix all in a warm bowl with a spoon until you get a liquid chocolate. Pour it on the caramel and let it set in the freezer for 10 mins.
